MoneyPak Problem

I bought a PayPal pre-paid green dot MoneyPak to purchase music from itunes.  When I list PayPal as payment source on itunes, I am downlinked to PayPal site and the following Error Detected message appears: "This recipient requires that you have a valid funding source from United States in order to complete this transaction".  I bought the MoneyPak at Walgreen's, which requires cash only to purchase the card, which I paid.  I have tried repeatedly to use the MoneyPak to buy music and always get the same message.  I tried both virtual help and help from what appeared to maybe be a human being from PayPal to address my question.  Never got any results to allow me to buy music.  My profile page shows my $50.00 sitting in my acct., w/ all the info. correct, but can't buy any music from itunes with the money, which is expressly why I bout the PayPal card in the first place.  Does anyone know how in the world I free up my PayPal money to buy music?

I have had a verified PP account for years and a 100% favorable rating on eBay.

A week age I purchased a MoneyPak card for $900 at the big W, the only retailer where cards with > $250 can be purchased. Followed the instructions on the PP website which directed me to the MP site. Entered the card #, and it was immediately recognized.. Followed the instructions to enter name, SS#, and address, all needed to become verified with MP and thus be able to deposit> $250. Then the next page hangs for hours (overnight) with the message " validating address information”. Spent hours with telephone support from PP and MP. PP support was very polite and helpful. They finally concluded that the problem was with MP. (MP had first blamed the problem on PP). They had me try to transfer $250,which went through. Back to MP support. Finally I was transferred to a supervisor, the first support person at MP that didn’t just give me the run-around.  He said that their verification system used some national database that is unrelated to the PP database. I explained to him that I have a credit rating in the 800s, that I have lived at the same address for 20 years, that I have committed no crimes, that I entered the same correct information each to the 25 times I completed the MP information form. His response: their database will not be able to verify me, and MP would send me a check for the $650 I couldn’t transfer to PP. I should expect it in 10 days.

Learnings: MoneyPak/GreenDot is not ready for prime time. Save yourself the hassles.

I'm having similar problems. I had transferred $130-ish earlier in the year and then bought a MP card yesterday for $200. No where on the card does it say anything about a $250 limit per year nor that you will need to verify your information (including your social security number and date of birth) with a third party. No way I would have bought the card under those circumstances.

The website simply hangs, exactly as you described, at the "Validating Address" screen. On the off chance that the mafia is using these cards for money laundering, fine, I can accept that maybe this might be a good idea but at least have the flipping website up and working to acutally verify.

Worse, there is no easy remedy. I can't take the card back for a refund. And it's looking like I'm going to have to apply for a refund and good luck to me to actually get the money back.

Here's the real question: Why on earth is PayPal continuing to use these people? I feel every bit as scammed by PayPal as I do by MoneyPak. PP certain can choose who it'll allow to be its providers.

PP should consider I was set to make a purchase on eBay with these funds. Now I've lost out. You think I'm going to put myself through this hassle again? No way. I wonder how many other sales PP has lost as a result of MP's issues?
