What's to stop a computer store from buying my Macbook and replacing parts with bad ones?

I have a buyer claiming a month later that the logic board ($300) DVD drive, and screen were not working upon recepit. It is a Mac computer store.. he mentioned he took it apart to replace the screen to see if it fixed a problem. I installed OSX the day before it shipped, the drive works. The pictures clearly show a good screen. He is asking for a refund. This was my personal computer for 3 years and worked just fine before I sent it. Do I have any recourse other than just refunding his money and accepting my now-broken and highly devalued laptop?
Thanks.

The buyer claims not make no sense.
Is the buyer filing a claim?
If I buy a computer I will not wait a long month to start complaining,If the laptop I receive is not working I will call you next day.
I don't know if you sold it true Ebay or just Paypal, but you should contact them to let them know what the buyer now says and you have proof of the laptop working before you shipped

iPhilyaw- This certainly sounds like a difficult issue, I'm sorry that you're in this position.
We always want our buyers and sellers to try and work things out between them and I would absolutely encourage you to continue and try to come to some sort of resolution.
If a dispute should be opened, we will look at the entire situation including that the item was modified. I certainly wouldn't be able to guarantee an outcome, but I want to assure you that if it should come down to it, we will look at every angle to come up with the fairest outcome possible.
