Paypal dispute process not fair at all

I sold a $1700 guitar on ebay and the buyer paid me for the guitar immediately. Shipping was NOT included in the auction and stated so in the auction.  I immediately emailed the buyer to ask how they would like to handle shipping - NO RESPONSE FROM THEM FOR ONE WHOLE MONTH!! Then I get an email from them asking for tracking info and I emailed back explaining why the guitar had not shipped "they didn't pay for shipping!!". So now they ask for a price for shipping ground UPS which I immediately gave them - they then sent the money. That was a Sunday night before thanksgiving. I had already left to vist with family over the Thanksgiving week in another state, so obviously I could not ship the guitar until I got back on Friday, which I tried to do but UPS was closed on Friday. The guitar went out on Monday. I did everything absolutely correct in this transaction. So the Staurday after Thansgiving the buyer opened a dispute saying he did not receive the guitar - BOOM - Paypal deducts $1675 from my account without even hearing my side or looking at the correspondence that we had made though EBAY over this transaction - If they did they would have seen that it was the buyers fault for not communicating with me after the auction closed. What kind if a dunce spends $1700 dollars and a month later goes "oh yeah where is that guitar I bought on EBAY???"

So this incompetent buyer was able to have Paypal pull $1675 from my account in the blink of an eye - and now I'm at his mercy to give Paypal the OK to put the money back????!!!????

Paypal - where do you get off pulling this kind of crap on your long term customers???? I've been using paypal for well over 10 years and I cannot believe what they have just done. I swear that has to be illegal.

My other gripe with Paypal is - I sold another guitar on EBAY for $2300 about 2 months ago and they held my money for 21 days??????  They called it a "Risky" Transaction!!!!      WHAT!!!!!!!!!!

So OK people - tell everybody you can about this kind of stuff before it happens to them

And what do you have to say for your slimy practices Paypal??

Food for thought-

If someone does not communicate nor pay 2 weeks- I file a non paying bidder.  Easiest way to separate the scammers from the honest folk. I *thought* eBay had a thing where if you filed one- you couldn't be negged (or it could be removed?) Don't quote me on that part.

The other part has to do with the credit card companies. If you have tracking (signature confirmation) and such- you should be able to submit that to Paypal. Did they deduct and close the case- or are the funds on hold? Theft of $1600+ should land someone in some hot water- and would be an amount that you could take them to small claims court and generally make it not worth their time to attempt to steal.

Anyways- sorry to hear this happened. Good luck with the outcome!

paypal should not put hold on money until the issue is solved. and then paypal shoulds listen and weigh evidence before siding with receiver all the time i had proof i sent a package to china and they ruled in the receiver favor . claiming he did not receive it. it not my fault if it gets held up in customs and or dont want to pay the tax on it. paypal needs to be fair to their sellers or they are going to lose them.
