Negative Paypal balance after a claim was made, very aggrivated!!!

So I recently made a claim with Paypal when I recieved 2 e-mail recipts from someone I didn't know and for a purchase I didn't make. (from a Boyaa Game Network and for something that wasn't even put anywhere on the reciept)

I made the claim right after I viewed the e-mail reciepts and then called my bank to make them aware of this. I was told to wait till the charges went through (they were on pending) and then made a full claim with my bank.

All that Paypal has asked for was something to prove that I'm me. Which the options they ask you for any hacker/scammer/etc can get easily. So I sent a picture of myself with said info and waited. Paypal has yet to ask me for anything else regarding these claims and now its 'Being reviewed by paypal'. It even says no files were submitted, yet I did submit some and they even say they recieved info from seller to help them. What info? Why can't I see this to possibly dispute it or see if its real?

Well I went on Ebay today to buy and pay for an item that was going to be my fiance's Valentine's Day gift. When I went to pay for it, I grudgingly logged into my Paypal account, having some hope left for them. Then I get a 'their is a negative balance on your account, please log into paypal to resolve it'.

I log into paypal and find that these amounts I have claims on are being charged against my Paypal account.

This whole ordel is **bleep** me off. Since I have been a user of Ebay for about 4-5 years and Paypal for about 3.

I'm calling Paypal tomorrow and hoping to get this all resolved. Then I will be closing my account and hopefully be able to put something else on my Ebay as a payment method.

Paypal has really gone to **bleep** since they tried to make a profit for themselves instead of just helping people like they started off with.

Nevermind, I was freaking out too early

It was just Paypal actually solving the dispute and putting through the correct amounts and getting everything handled in my account.

Everything is good now, but I'm still very leary about continuing on with Paypal.

Hi GarnetaJ28,

I'm very sorry to hear that you suffered unauthorized access to your account. PayPal protects you 100% in these situations, and the negative balance caused by the transaction gets rectified when the review is complete and the claim has been granted.

In the meanwhile, you'll want to do a few things to reinforce the protection of your online accounts. During your report to PayPal, you would have been prompted to change your password because someone used it to access your account. It's important that if you used the same password on any other sites that you go and change the password there as well. It's possible that use of the same password on a less secure site is what compromised the information in the first place.

You'll also want to run a virus scan on your computer to make sure there are no malicious programs capturing your keystrokes. If your virus scan comes up with one, after you've had it removed, you'll want to change your password again.

You can learn more about Security & Protection here, and see some Tips on Security and Fraud Prevention here.

I hope this helps!

Olivia
