i sold an item on ebay.  sent it out next day and went on a vaca and suffered a family tragedy. ended up being gone for 3 wks.  never even got on a computer in nthat time.  buyer claims item doesnt work and wants refund.  paypal puts his funds on hold and make my account negative balance... it appears, because paypal put funds on hold and brought my account neg, that buyer was refunded.  yet ebay just took money from my bank account to refund the buyer.... why did paypal put that money on hold if they werent refunding the buyer?  it appears that he has already been nrefunded, so why are they taking that from me again?  so confused.

EJLauriat- I'm sorry to hear about the trouble you had while on vacation and the issue you're having with your PayPal account.  Here's what's probably happening: The buyer opened a dispute on eBay.  When PayPal is notified of this, we'll place the disputed funds on hold, even though it's not our dispute.  Once eBay resolves it, they're supposed to tell us, we release the hold, then they use that held money to pay the buyer.

What it sounds like happened is they didn't tell us the dispute was resolved, they used your bank to cover that, and we're still holding those funds because they haven't told us yet.  If you give us a call, it should be a pretty easy fix, just take a couple days, at most.

Hope that helps.
