I bought turntables from a merchant about a month ago, delivery takes 10 days at the most they noted on there site. I waited 14 days before I emailed them and about 16 before I opened a case. When I opened it paypal had a automated message for stating that they was asked to respond by march 5th. Basically,I am waiting on there response but they have not been replieng to my emails through paypal or outside of paypal.
here is the dispute comments, please tell me what I should Do Iv'e done everything I could think of to hasten the process but now im 186 dollars short and out of ideas as well.
"
- 2/23/2011 20:35 PST - PayPal: Buyer escalated this dispute to a Claim.
- 2/23/2011 20:35 PST - Buyer: They are not replying to my messages,so maybe they will respond to you.
- 2/23/2011 20:34 PST - Buyer: well at this point i realize the customer service is rubbish,I wish to have my refund.
- 2/20/2011 21:48 PST - Buyer: I emailed you asking for a ETA for my turn tables, you ignored me so now im messaging you through a dispute. It has been 16 days since I ordered and in your website it says it takes 7-10 days."

Welcome to the boards!
I'm sorry to hear you haven't received your items. If you've opened a dispute and escalated it to a claim, the seller has 10 days from when you escalated it to a claim to respond directly to PayPal.
If they don't respond to PayPal, then on the 11th day you'll receive a refund.
If they do, we'll take a look at what they responded with and go from there.
So, for now, just sit tight. PayPal's on it.
Hope this helps,
Adrian

Don't get this false sense of safety - Paypal might as well decide in favor of the fraudster. All is needed for a seller is to dispatch some fake package and - voila - Paypal considers that everything's okay. You better pray your seller has forgotten about you or something, otherwise you won't ever see you money. I would also directly dispute the transaction with the bank if I were you.
Paypal is only protecting criminals when they steal money from you. My case is my proof.

I'm afraid I'm going to have to be up front here.

Nope. We won't close a claim for non-receipt until we can confirm delivery directly with the buyer or by online tracking. If you receive an item and its now not as described, just let us know. We have a claim process for that. So... you're still covered.

I can understand advising someone to file with their credit card or their bank, but only after the dispute or claim is closed and appeals aren't an option.
Why?
Because once you do, any internal claim has to be closed and you can only rely on your rights through the credit card or bank.
That means that if you funded a portion of your payment with your PayPal balance, you'll be out those funds.
I'm afraid I would have to strongly advise against doing this until you know the outcome of the claim.
Thank you for your input!

So basically just call my bank and tell them they stole money from me,because that is what they did. I gave them money in exchange for turntables,PERIOD. I want my TURNTABLES,anything else I get wont be what I paid for. So maybe its best to wait untill the 5th and I will call my bank?
I thought paypal was legit dude,I normally buy goods in person but I was taking a chance again. If they get away with this im not using this **bleep** again you can count on that,it just **bleep** I always have to learn lessons the hard way.

DrinkUpJohnny,
First, please don't ever tell your bank someone stole money from you when they didn't. You would want to let the bank know that you wanted to stop payment on it due to an issue with the purchase - saying anything else would be a fraudulent attempt to use your banks ability to stop a check.
Saying it was unauthorized when it wasn't can get you in some serious hot water, not only with your bank, but it can cause other issues outside of your bank. I don't think the turntables are worth that.
As for your claim, right now, as you described, we're just waiting for the seller to respond. Even if the seller responds with tracking information, that doesn't mean your claim is automatically closed.
PayPal then monitors the tracking to ensure delivery. If you get it and it's something different, you just have to let PayPal know as soon as possible.
It's really that simple. No one is out to just take the money or close claims arbitrarily. That would be, well, that would just be silly.

Sounds like Paypal does not want attention from Law Enforcement drawn towards their business. Maybe a complaint to the local Attorney General's Office will give Paypal the attention they need.
