Sounds like Paypal does not want attention from Law Enforcement drawn towards their business.  Maybe a complaint to the local Attorney General's Office will give Paypal the attention they need. ... View more

Anyone else think it ironic that the message on the Paypal log in is "Like a good friend-Paypal can keep a secret".   That is exactly what the scammers are hoping for!!! ... View more

Sorry to have to break this to you but Paypal does not care if you get scammed.  All they are about is if they get their money.  I have been scammed and Paypal gave them their money back in addition to the scammer keeping my Iphones.  I tend to be very leary of on-line transactions and took steps to protect myself.  In my case, I made sure I cashed out my payment before I sent the Iphones and I used a bank account I closed after getting the money out.   Paypal is going to eat this transaction since they gave the money back to the scammers.  I closed my bank account to prevent Paypal from taking my money back.  If they want to give the money back to the scammers, they can pay for it.    Good Luck with your future endeavors and I would avoid using Paypal because they do not offer any protection.  ... Excellent response, it sounds like they are readying from a script and can not think for themselves.  That would explain them parroting the same comments over and over all the time.  The only thing Palpal protects is their pocketbook.  I would love to see a mass exodus from Paypal and see it shut down.  They are actively profiting from criminal acts and I firmly believe they should be criminal charged and fined for their part in it.  After all, the federal RICO statue has been used against the debt collectors and Paypal is no better then them.     ... It is truly sad you have to go to these lenghts to protect yourself not only from the scammers out there but from Paypal itself.  I was leary of the same I made on Craigslist when the buyer wanted me to open a Paypal account.  I waited to ship the phones until I got the money in my account.  When the "buyer" started to claim he did not get the phones a month later, it confirmed my suspicions.  I have closed my bank account so I am not victimized again.  It Paypal wants to give the scammer his money back, it can come out of their own pocket.    Thanks for the post, you have done a great service to help others not get scammed by the scammers or by Paypal itself. ... Sounds like your story is the norm around here.  Paypal does not care about anyone as long as they get their money.  It's down right criminal the way they act.  THey give their blessing to these shady companies and I am sure they get a kick back from them or "license fee" to make it sound legit. ... You are right on with the class action lawsuit.  I think someone should review this for violations of the RICO act.  The feds have gone after debt collectors for violations of the RICO act and I think they should go after Paypal.  They are directly profiting from criminal activity.  GO get them!!! ... Check with your local Secretary of State, Paypal should have a registered agent listed that you can serve lawsuits on against Paypal.  Companies like Paypal only understand one thing, that is a lawsuit. ... View more

Has Paypal actually helped anyone?

After reading about all of the victims of Paypal and the scammers, I am going to post the question: Has anyone actually been helped by Paypal?   All I have read so far is the moderators talking about all the protection they offer but I have not read of anyone actually been helped.  I am going through a chargeback right now and after reading about all the other people that have had the same experience,  I already know what the outcome will be.  The scammer will get my phones and money and Paypal will profit from the scam.  Anybody think this is messed up? ...
