Scam Shipment

I purchased an item but was shipped a substitute which is useless. A very simple scam where you ship a sub in place of what was ordered. The vendor will only return my money if I return the item. As the item was shipped from China (sold by what appeared to be a USA vendor), to return it I must pay twice (postage) what the item is worth. Paypal has sided with the vendor. How do I appeal or what else is possible ?

You're not entitled to return shipping costs within the dispute but seller is forced to accept a return however you can get reimbursed from PayPal separately:

Return the item or you'll lose the dispute.

Gots to be careful who you buy from, anyone can setup shop. Stick to tried and true brand names and merchants.

According to Paypal, I must file a request for reimbursement prior to filing a dispute so that horse has already left the barn. The return postage is $33+ and the item cost was $16 so I'm stuck with junk. Again in spite of info claiming you can appeal, there is no link that I could find that would allow me to do so. Lesson learned, Paypal is not too concerned about buyers.

Chinese Web Sites or on Facebook easy to spot so buyer beware.

1. No return address on the returns policy............thats because the site will look as if its in your country (where they despatch goods from) BUT they will ask for returns to go back to China (returns depot) at a shipping cost nearly always more than the item is worth.
2. No contact telephone number............if you click on contact the most you will get is webmail or an email address.
3. No company address information.
4. Great items at 'bargain' prices ie tat.
