Returning Fake Rothys to China/PayPal's reaction to Fraud

I ordered Rothys from a link on FaceBook. I know, I should have been more savvy. When the shoes arrived after more than a month, they were the wrong style and wrong color. To get my $114.99 refund, it will cost over $200 to return these to China. While PayPal offers reimbursement for return shipping, it is only $30, leaving me out $55.  I have an open dispute, but I got a message yesterday saying I needed to respond to the seller, even though I did respond to both the company and to PayPal. I described the problems (wrong style, wrong color, knock off, expense of return to China) to both, but I have no way of knowing if either received my reply. I can't tell if this message is a generic reply to make sure that I answer the seller's offer before the due date or if I actually need to provide more documentation (which I don't have). What is your experience with Paypal's handling of fraud?

Hi ladies! I had the exact same issue and was able to get a full refund from PayPal after they initially asked me to ship the fake shoes back to China first. Since there was nowhere in my open case to add additional information (only a place for a tracking number once I shipped them back), I pled my case on the PayPal messenger. The key is to focus on the fact that the shoes are counterfeit, not that they sent you the wrong size/color. IT IS ILLEGAL TO SHIP COUNTERFEIT MERCHANDISE, so PayPal can’t make you to do that. Politely remind them of this fact, take the time to show them that your shoes are fakes with photos (label should be fabric, glue shouldn’t be messy, the logo on fakes is usually too round, “made in” label should say China, not US, etc.). I sent them an excerpt of the applicable law, a screen shot of their website where they say they offer buyer protection against fraud, lots of pictures, and they got back to me on messenger about 12 hours later stating that I’ve been refunded in full and the Chinese website has been banned. Woohoo! Don’t give up! This website has lots of helpful tips (I didn’t buy their BS certificate of authenticity though). https://legitcheck.app/information/paypal-refund-fake-items/ Good luck!!

Thank you! In the middle of dispute for same thing joe and will try your suggestions. First calling my cc company tomorrow. Seriously considering cancelling my PayPal account over this. Supporting counterfeit products is NOT ok.

Seriously PayPal - STOP ALLOWING PAYMENT From FRADULENT businesses - those in China.  And if you choose not to do anything - at least refund OUR money - only then will you place this issue on high priority - once you see the number of your customers who have been scammed!

We are losing thousands of dollars - and yet PAYPAL - could easily track / stop this type of transaction.

Yes - I should have been more vigilant - and done my homework - but they are getting more savvy in their cons.  They look real.

I don't know who I am more mad at .... the fraudulent individuals who conned me - for PayPal who continue to allow it!

Ok - I feel better .
