Dear Sirs,

On 19/1/2021 I received an email from Ryanair that they refunded an amount of EUR394.76 to VISA Credit Card x-<Removed>, Transaction ID9DG70346P8248554X.  The original purchase was on 20/7/2019 with this card through the PayPal Account.

I contacted a lot of times with Ryanair informed them that the VISA Credit Card x-<Removed> does not exist now.  The account closed on 29/1/2020.

The last email I received from Ryanair was on 16/7/2021 informed me that they have reviewed the request and wish to confirm that the refund of 394.76 EUR has successfully been processed through PayPal on the 19th January 2021, they have had no notification from PayPal of this transaction being declined or returned and they advised me to contact PayPal directly about this issue.

I am waiting your response.

Regards,

Maria <Removed>

Hello, @Luna2013. Your concern about a refund being sent back to a card that no longer exists is certainly understandable.

I'm sorry for any misunderstanding or miscommunication with the merchant, but it would not be possible for Ryanair to use the Issue Refund link on January 19, 2021, for a PayPal transaction that occurred on July 20, 2019. The Issue Refund link is available only up to 180 days after the transaction. Ryanair would have been able to issue a refund via the PayPal transaction up to January 16, 2020.

If Ryanair processed a refund to you on January 19, 2021, for a PayPal transaction that occurred on July 20, 2019, they would have had to send you a PayPal payment or they would have had to processed the refund outside of PayPal. Please check your PayPal account for a payment (not a refund) from Ryanair in the amount you mentioned.

Based on the information you have mentioned here, it would not have been possible for Ryanair to issue a refund. If Ryanair did not send you a payment in lieu of a refund, then they apparently are mistaken about issuing a refund to you through any PayPal account they own.

I hope this helps to clarify things. Thanks for your patience during this time.

Sincerely,

Michael
