Paypal dismisses my complaint, but I got the information in on time

I bought a Dyson air purifier though eBay. Expensive but I thought necessary. The item was bought with PayPal credit.

When it was delivered, it was a second-hand iron. No response from the vendor so pretty clear that I had been conned.

So after following the eBay process,  approached PayPal. They said report it to the police and snd us their letterhead reply.

This was about the point that my Dad had died, so I'll be honest, I didn't do it right first time. So after the first dismissal, I called PayPal.

Spoke to a very helpful adviser that reopened the case, an ran me through the submission procedure. He said that as it wasn't busy (Boxing Day), he could check that it had been received and would contact me back there was any issues.

Nothing for 4 weeks when the case was dismissed again. Spoke to another adviser who confirmed that the document had been received, but said the case has been dismissed because the police were now working it. Which is not what the e-mail said. She advise me to complain.

So I have. 4 times. Each times with standard responses saying that the case was dismissed because I hadn't responded in time.

How do I get you guys to listen to me? Why can't you deal with the claim. I thought that you were supposed to protect me?

Well we are not ''you guys'' as this is a community user to user advice forum.

However options....

1. If the seller is in the UK then small claims court is an option?

2. If you funded your paypal payment via a card then speak to the card issuer and see if they will chargeback for you.

Hello Cornish friend,

Thanks for the answer. Sorry, I wasn't railing at the community but I am finding it hard in general. Feeling a bit vulnerable and in need of support that I'm not getting, from PayPal at least.

I think that a sellers identity was hijacked, so I'd be hard pressed to find who ripped me off. Try Muhhamed <removed> on Google. Anyway, it was PayPal credit I paid on to get the interest free, so it's all to do with PayPal. Wish I'd just bought it at Argos now.

Thanks anyway, me 'ansome.
