Hi there,

Not sure if the title really makes sense but anyhow, I have a problem with a site I just made a purchase on. The site took the money of my PayPal account and is now holding the transaction on their end and forcing me to send in my identification card to validate that I am who I say I am. It seems a bit off to me, and I'm just wondering really if this is legal especially since PayPal has all my information and is doing a great work of validating my identity and limiting my account if it didn't check out. I assume that the transaction information sent from PayPal to the business also gets all my information, such as name, address and what not.

Therefore I'm wondering if this is even legal, even more so since the money is already taken from my account and not placed on hold/pending.

Not sure about legal as I don't know international law but personally i would raise a dispute for non receipt of item if they are not sending your item having been paid.

That may wake them up as if you escalate to a claim and paypal get involved they would have to show paypal trackable proof of delivery of item to you.
