On February 3rd I purchased a Swiss Army knife from Grace Grant, Inc.) . On February 15th Pay Pay sent me an email concerning the "details about your shipment". This email contained the Sellers Name (Grace Grant, Inc.) and my name and shipping address. Under shipper it had Tracking No. No Shipment Tracking Number and Status: Shipped. What alerted me was the fact they had no tracking number. All packages shipped receive a tracking number. Under description they gave the Item name as "u85zp2c1" why not the correct item name?
I want to know how Pay Pal investigates these companies and websites to make sure they are truly legitimate and not scams. This has made me very leary about using Pay Pal.

You seriously think paypal investigates every seller / company / website / merchant world wide???
Not even your credit card companies do that.
Paypal is a payment processor and they give you 'some' buyer protection but its up to you to risk assess your own transactions.
If paypal get enough disputes against a company then they may stop them using paypal but if its one of the sites as per below then they just set up again with another name.
Chinese Web Sites or on Facebook easy to spot so buyer beware.
1. No return address on the returns policy............thats because the site will look as if its in your country (where they despatch goods from) BUT they will ask for returns to go back to China (returns depot) at a shipping cost nearly always more than the item is worth.
2. No contact telephone number............if you click on contact the most you will get is webmail or an email address.
3. No company address information.
4. Great looking items at bargain prices that turn out to be tat.
Have you opened a paypal dispute?

Yes, I do think Pay Pal should investigate websites before letting the public have access to them.
Any company using pay pal should at least have a legitimate address, a legitimate email address and legitimate telephone number thatthe buyeree can use for contacting the seller.
Grace Grant , Inc. had none of above mentioned items. Why would Pay Pal accept this faulty information from Grace Grant , When Pay Paly sent me details about my shipment. There was no tracking number listed nor did they indicate the correct name of the item. Shouldn't Pay Pal have been aware of this right away?

Then you live in cloud cuckoo land, if paypal had to do that then the service fee to use their services would be astronomical to pay all the extra staff that they would need to do that.
These China websites just change names when enough folks file disputes against them for paypal to take action and start over.
The best thing is to do a bit of research BEFORE buying tat from China .......plenty of good review sites out there including Trust Pilot also takes me about 3 minutes to check the things i mentioned above and to find out if its a scam site or not.
