I've just been charged £20 by Facebook through my Paypal account for advertisments. My FB account was hacked 5 days ago while I was asleep. When I tried to login it said I am blocked for 24 hours due to my account activity (being hacked!). I appealed and they disabled my account with no explanation. I have no idea what adverts I'm supposed to have paid for because my account has been disabled and I can't login! I haven't placed an advert for my business since before the lockdown as my business still can't run due to covid 19 restrictions. Obviously this is something the hacker has done, but when I opened up a case with paypal, they found in Facebooks favour and closed my case within a few minutes! No explanation of why they found it an 'authorised' transaction whatsoever, just 'case closed'. Yes it's only £20 but it could've been a lot more and paypal would still have sided with FB. My bank said there's nothing they can do and FB doesn't reply to any messages. Take this as a warning, if you get scammed by FB paypal will do nothing to help you!
