Cannot provide proof of identity documents. What do I do now?

Hi.

I'm from the UK and just woke up to PayPal telling me I need to resolve a problem with my account.

The stumbling block for me is that I have no photo proof of I.D. Closest thing I have is a official UK issued birth certificate, but there's no option for that. Is this going to be resolvable?

Also, the only limitation that I can see, is that I won't be able to close my account - everything else has a green tick next to it, close account has a red cross next to it. How urgent is this issue, really? Will they further limit my account if I don't resolve it soon? I've been a member for a good few months and have zero disputes or payment issues, and have had plenty of small and large transactions - via eBay and other online retail merchants. (Uniqlo, etc.)

Thank you for any help you can give.

Same here . I sent birth certificate but only place you can attach a document is under passport , licence  and I forget what the other option was . I did it under licence but received an email saying the document I provided was incorrect . They don't take into account many people will not have any of these documents .

Sorry to hear you're having the same issue.

I've sent a direct message to @AskPayPal on Twitter and they say they'll get a specialist to look into it and respond.

The only solution I can think of is to get a provisional license but that's a cost I would rather not incur.

My account now says that I won't be able to receive money come 18 November, 2020.

Honestly, it feels like I'm a victim of having moderately successful eBay sales or something. It's strange how my account isn't fishy enough for them to stop taking their cut from it.

Hi again.

I just wanted to let you know that there is a workaround if you don't have photo ID: I uploaded photos of my birth certificate and a government document which had my address on it and now my account is no longer restricted. The PayPal person I spoke to on Twitter said the names on both documents need to match. (But that it should be okay if, say, your middle name is missing from the tax, etc, document.) They also accept letters from the NHS and bank statements. The government, NHS, and possibly bank statements with your name and address on them, cannot be more than 12 months old. I hope this helps.
