Card reader not sleeping

Hi all anyone have any idea how to change the sleep settings on the card reader, or even change them back to factory settings , it suddenly seems to have changed

Hi Mark, I've been running some tests, here are the results.

Before the recent update, the card reader used to go into sleep mode as soon as you minimised the Paypal Here app on your phone. 

It seems that what happens now is the card reader will stay connected for about 14 minutes and the screen will stay on, all the time draining the battery. There doesn't appear to be any way to manually put the card reader into sleep mode, you used to be able to press the power button once, that no longer seems to work.

The card reader bettery was down to 50% charge after 2 hours here, not a lot of use when you are out selling for 8 hours....

I have reported this to Paypal and it is apparently being passed onto the development team.

What REALLY annoys me about software updates is that we, the customer are never told what the updates are or what they do, very poor practice.

I did hear back from the development team, apparently this is how it is now. I did suggest that they might like to try using the terminal in a real world environment, but I'm less than hopeful. Very unhappy with this, now looking at alternatives to Paypal and suggesting  to everybody I know that they do the same.

I log out from paypal here after each use, then you can click power button and it goes to sleep. Tip: Cursing paypals crappy overpriced card reader doesn't help. I've checked!

I encountered this exact problem this weekend. I discovered it needed to update when I logged in at 9am on Saturday morning, by 3pm my device was completely flat (not great, I was at a very busy comic con). I charged it fully overnight at our hotel and got going again on Sunday. By 11am I was on 50% battery and discovered I had to completely close the app on my ipad to get the card reader to sleep (which was not easy, pressing the power button once didn't seem to work every time). Also the app was a little temperamental and could sometimes stall when opening meaning that my customers had to wait up to 5 minutes to pay for their purchases. A simple solution would be to just roll back the recent update and send out a new one once these bugs are fixed.

I will be sooo gals when it fixed!! I would prefer they take it back to the old version. If phone or ipad on sleep mode reader should be too. Takes to much time to keep logging back and forth with line of paying customers. Some will leave. Please fix ASAP DPW
