Card Reader and iPhone shows paired/connected but reader won't work

Card reader and iPhone appear to connect/pair but when I try to do a transaction the screen on the reader simple says 'open the app on your phone' and the app says 'Card Reader not connected' even though the Bluetooth settings show connected.  I've tried reloading the app, factory settings on reader, bought new reader, and nothing works.  This has been going on for a week now, PayPal useless - just suggested to get new reader .  Has anyone had this problem.  Any help appreciated

yes same here completely fed up with the lack of feedback from Paypal in addressing the issue

I am sorry to hear that you both have been having such issues with your PayPal Here readers. I would recommend to contact our PayPal Here team directly so they can help you with this. You can reach them on <removed> <removed> between 8:00 AM and 10:00 PM Monday through Friday and from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM on weekends or just email us on <removed>.
