If I buy an item from someone using PayPay (not on ebay), am I protected,or is it considered a personal transaction?

How would I go about making the payment?

They do not have a website, so I will need to discuss payment methods with them,

I expect to give them my address  for postal purposes.

When I get to the stage of paying them, how can I indicate via PayPal that I am paying for a particular product. Is there a facility for me to provide details. I clearly need to make it clear what I am buying

Is this the right page to pay for 'goods', rather than 'personal'

https://www.paypal.com/uk/webapps/mpp/make-online-payments

i.e,

Making a Payment

From (Your email)

To (Their email)

Amount    GPP

Continue

Will the 'Continue' button lead to a page that allows me to specify 'goods'

Tell them to send you an invoice stating description

If not when you pay to their paypal email address you can state description
