How long does it take for Paypal to process a payment for an item purchased on ebay ?

The reason I'm asking, is that there's an item on their that's on an auction, and before I start bidding on it, I'm wondering if it's possible to purchase the item if I win it, and put the money into the bank three days later to pay for it... It's just I won't have the sufficient funds until Wednesday...

Hi alammurray790, 

If you are initiating a payment I would recommend that they funds are available in your bank account. When you initiate a payment and the funds are requested from your bank account via the direct debit mandate, it will generally take 1-2 working days to leave your bank account. 

If the funds are requested using your debit or credit card the funds will be requested instantly.

Although I opened an eBay account a long time ago, an order I placed yesterday 23/11/12 was my first. All went well it seemed but I was disappointed to see my payment is not expected to be processed until 30/11- 05/12 . Why is this pease? It would have been quicker to visit the shop and buy over the counter!

If you only have your bank account linked to your paypal account then the payment will go as an echeque and take a while to clear.

Thats because normally pay the seller for you and then start the process of uploading the funds from your funding source but they will only do that if you have a back up debit or credit card on file with them as well to reduce the risk.

So add a back up card and future payments will go through to the seller instantly.

Thanks for the info! I'm on the opposite end of the transaction...the seller here, wondering why it is taking over a day for funds with an hour glass in my 'sold' items to turn into a $, and why my paypal account still says 0.00 USD after receving payments right away in the past. Anyway this works out perfectly because, I do not get paid till Friday and don't have any $ to ship the sold items yet so I guess it all works out!

Are you an ebay seller? If so can you do this??

Go and find the transaction in your “my ebay” > click to the right where it says sell similar > scroll down to the payments section > look in the paypal box > is the email addy in there correct with no spelling mistakes?
