customer can't pay from invoice

My customer reports having this happen repeatedly:
just tried it again twice – same result, very frustrating – something must be wrong in the set up – any ideas on how to get you the money and a receipt?
When I hit pay $100 – it goes to a dark screen and says “ if the other window does not open up – hit refresh” – which I do – but all that does is take me back to the same page that I started on
