I had the same problem for about 6 months. I called today and the representative checked for pending transactions then deleted the card information. The whole process took about 2 minutes.

I too cannot remove my creditcard from paypal. It says:
You may not remove your back-up funding source while an instant transfer is still pending.
I have never made a purchase using my credit card, always my bank. The last purchase I have done with paypal is over a month ago and it was a succesful.
I HAVE NO TRANSFER OF ANY KIND THAT IS PENDING
Yet paypal won't let me remove it.

Doesn't look like e-mailing helps. Have you called them? It took about 2 minutes for them to verify I didn't have any pending transactions and remove the credit card I had on file.

Same thing here. On hold now and the wait time is +5 mins @9am??? I am hating this company more every minute. I can't delete cc and cant unlink bank account!!

It worked. both bank and credit cards were removed promptly.
Instead of having to go through the frustrations of calling...Paypal, fix the system!!!
When calling, instead of going through all the prompts, just keep saying "Agent". This will transfer you to a live person.

Hello!
I have the exact same issue. The credit card on file needs to be removed. It was incorrectly used as a backup method and now my credit card is locked by Citi. I tried removing it, but it keeps telling me there is a transaction pending. Nothing is pending.I need this resolved ASAP! My external Gmail email address is on file.

Like so many others, I'm having the same problem. I had a credit card replaced almost a month ago due to fraud, and while I added a new card on Paypal and made it the primary, and even though there are no pending transactions on the canceled card, and even though I have another card on the account for backup funding, it won't let me remove the canceled card. If a Paypal rep is reading these posts, please contact me with info on how to get this canceled card off my account. My email address is on my profile.

Don't know why they haven't fixed their system. You can call and they will verify there are no pending transactions and delete the card for you. Takes a minute once you talk to a live person.
