Asking to verify credit card for account access, but it is credit card that was lost.

I am trying to update my account with my new credit card (the one on file was physically lost).  However, I get a "you have been randomly chosen  to update your account" please enter the whole credit card number on file.  Well, I can't that one was lost..... How can I get past that screen, or do I have to find an old bank record???

If you've not received an answer on this, I just fixed it by phone w/PayPal today.

Add another credit card. Account>My Money....etc.

Then, remove the old card.

You should be able to walk through it from there.
