transaction cancelled but money still taken from my bank :( Help!

I sent a personal payment of £80.00 to a family friend on PayPal. My PayPal balance was nil so I new the.money would come out from my bank account. Within a couple of house my friend said that she hadn't received anything from PayPal so I asked for her email address again, which she sent and was different to the first address I had sent the payment to. (She had missed a letter out of the first email address) Realising this I cancelled the payment straight away. I had a confirmation email saying it had been cancelled.I then sent the £80.00 again to the correct address and it was recieved. The problem is I have checked my bank account today and I have had the money £80.00 taken out twice. Once for the payment that had been cancelled and once for the payment that had gone though correctly. If the transaction was cancelled Why has it come out of my bank and how do I get it back? Because PayPal has taken it out against my wishes I have now been charged by the bank because the funds for both amounts were not in there because I Cancelled the one, so just assumed as most people would that if its cancelled its Stopped from leaving the bank. I'm not happy at all. And can't find anything on here to help me with what's going to happen or what to do about it

Very clever for anyone to be able to stop a payment going through the chaps system and making it do a u-turn and reverse back to your bank account.

But if it makes you feel happy that someone else is to blame rather than you keep paying to an incorrect email addy thats fine.

Well if the PayPal Staff admit quite clearly that the way the process of canceling a payment is flawed and they are looking at changing it doesn't that tell you that the system they use is incorrect and therefore the money still going out isn't anyones fault other than their own??!!! And I'm sorry but I disagree that's its obvious the process of how the.money comes out. Unless you work in a bank id say 9 out of 10 people probably wouldnt no how the process works. I put this post up originally asking for help, Not to have fellow PayPal member come on **bleep** at me telling me that its all my fault. Ud the site had the correct info up in the first place I'm sure the hundreds of people who have the same issue I had would know what to to. But my point was the site has Nothing up saying the cancellation process so people can be clear on how it works and put extra money in the bank if needed. If you don't have anything nice to say then don't say anything at all. Simple

Hello. I have just had the very same problem. Luckily I have enough in the bank to not get get charges. But it is a bit worrying and baffling when you see your bank account has had the cancelled payment taken out too. Hopefully this will be returned to my paypal account in the next few days, as I do need the money.

I have had the same thing happen. It doesn't look like Paypal have looked inot things or changed this at all. I have used Paypal for many years and this is the first time I have had any reason for complaint. Inconvenient.
