Hello, (We would always address you by your full name as it appears on your account) As part of our security measures, we regularly screen activity in the PayPal system. We recently contacted you after noticing an issue on your account. We requested information from you for the following reason: We have reason to believe that your account was accessed by a third party. (At this point you should check your PayPal account by logging in outside of this email. You will notice there is no such email) We have limited access to sensitive PayPal account features in case your account has been accessed by an unauthorized third party. We understand that having limited access can be an inconvenience, but protecting your account is our primary concern. Case ID Number: PP-661-601-986 (I've checked and this case number is totally unrelated) This is a third and final reminder to log in to PayPal as soon as possible. (We would never put a 'final reminder' on your limitation like this) Once you log in, you will be provided with steps to restore your account access. We appreciate your understanding as we work to ensure account safety. In accordance with PayPal's User Agreement, your account access will remain limited until the issue has been resolved. Unfortunately, if access to your account remains limited for an extended period of time, it may result in further limitations or eventual account closure. We encourage you to log in to your PayPal account as soon as possible to help avoid this. To review your account and some or all of the information that PayPal used to make its decision to limit your account access, please visit the Resolution Center. If, after reviewing your account information, you seek further clarification regarding your account access, please contact PayPal by visiting the Help Center and clicking "Contact Us". We thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. Please understand that this is a security measure intended to help protect you and your account. We apologize for any inconvenience. Thanks, PayPal Account Review Department PayPal Email ID PP638 |

I received a "notice of policy updates" email today, supposedly from service{at}paypal.com but looking further at the actual sender, it was from do_not_reply{at}itunes.com.
Added straight to my spam list.

DO not click on or open any links you receive in emails unless it has your name at the start of the message as it is probably a scam.. If you want to contact Paypal go on onto the official website and log in from there.
If you have tried to log in with the link sent in the email it would be a good idea to change your password as soon as possible.

Here's one that I received today, titled "payment not confirmed". Sender name made it look like a usual paypal notification but was deceptive - true sender address domain was review.email.com. Upon clicking on the "Cancel payment" link (in red below), I was sent to a paypal login site that looked exactly identical to the actual paypal login page, except url was not in paypal.com domain. I entered my username and password, and was brought to a page that asked for contact details, social security, credit card number, etc, for confirmation. all looked pretty legit (especially the replicated webpages) save for the fact that the email greeting was missing my name. Please watch out and do not fall for this.
