payments took as direct debit instead of instant

since the beginning of may ,when i verified my account so i could transfer payments from my paypal account to my bank account.

whenever i buy anything through e bay, instead of the money being an instant transfer from my account it now shows as a direct debit and doesnt acctually come out of my account until 3-4 days after i have ac tually paid it .

for example say i have £100 in my account and i buy something for £10,instead of it saying account balance £100,availiable balance £90 where it used to with instant transfer.

is there any way of changing it back to instant transfer instead of direct debit payments ,at least then i know where i am with my account ,in case i forget about payments and go overdrawn ,if that makes any sense

When funding from your bank it is always via direct debit, could it be possibly that previously you were funding via your debit card?

yes ever since i verified my account in may it has took payments via direct debit ,prior to that it was instant transfer so yes obviuosly it must have took it straight from the card .

so can i go back to payments took from the card???

You can if you remove your bank account. If you wish to withdraw funds in the future then you will have to put it back on but you do not have to verify it again unless you wish to use it to fund purchases with.

thanks for your help classy-diva,just tried removing bank account ,but couldnt due to payment pending so once thats done i'll do it and report back

Hey there pottsey,

You don't need to remove your bank account from PayPal in order to make payment from your card.

You have the option to change your funding source when you are making payments. If you wish to use your card you just need to click on the ‘more fundings option’ or the ‘change’ link when you are finalising your payment.

When making any payment through PayPal you will be shown a summary of your payment just before you finalise your payment. So you will be shown the account we the payment is goin to be requested from. If this account is not the one you want to use, then just change it.
