Hello all

new to the forum, didnt realise paypal had one.!!!

i have a pretty complex scenario....

we have seen a car we would like to purchase for £3000, but he will only accept debit card or cash,

now we have a new credit card which will be added to paypal, my wife has a new paypal account currently being set up. so i will send here £3000 by goods from my credit card, which i have temporary tried and the it doesnt look like it will charge me, if i send it by paypal gift i get chargered £102.

So if i send it by goods will my wife get a receiving charge or withdrawel charge.

if i send it by paypal gift, i will get charged but will she also be charged for receiving and withdrawing?

Many thanks

If you send it as goods then your wife will be charged a large fee on receipt of item and that may be held for 21 days as they will see her as a new seller.

The only time it is free to send a gift payment is when you fund the payment from your bank via instant bank transfer OR paypal balance funds. If you fund it using a debit or credit card it will be charged.

Can i ask why you don't just withdraw £3000 from your bank account in cash and pay when you collect the car or deposit that cash directly into your wifes bank account where it will clear instantly with no fees????

Thanks for the reply. I have looled into it a bit more. I think i am going to send personal gift to her so i pay the fees ten i dont think she will get charged. Am i right? I dont have 3000 in my bank account to transfer. I was goong to use the credit card and transfer 3k through paypal. So on my credit card it will show as a interest free transaction. And mu wide can then pay on her card. She has just increased her withdrawel fee from£1500 to unlimited today. Should there be a issue?

Well as i am not paypal i can't say whether there may be an issue.

Paypal have been known to hold high value transactions whilst they check everything is ok so if there is a time issue i would give them a call first and check it will all go through ok.

Seems an expensive way to do things would not a loan for a car be more cost effective?

I will get my wofe to contact them i think. Overall i think it will only cost £102. Where as if i got a loan the interest would be far more Is there anyone from paypal on here?

Sorry i was thinking more of the interest you would pay on your credit card unless you paid it all off at once at the end of the month.

The paypal moderators do post but on selected posts as this is mainly a community forum.

You can phone paypal and if you are transfering that much i would check they are not going to put a security hold on it before you do so.

Contact us bottom of paypal pages > call them but when you get through don't select any options just hang on till you get an agent.
