Mobile payment gateway - Mobile apps

I have been investigating the best way that I can accept payments on a mobile device whilst running events. I don't mind if people use their own mobile device or mine but I do want to make sure that it is safe and easy for my clients to make payments on the day at the venue, ideally without haivng to download an app for their 'phone first.

Has anyone got any suggestions on the best way of doing this?

I see from iTunes that there is an app which says it can be set up as a mobile POS but I can't tell whether it is a Paypal product or if indeed it is to be recommended or not.

I can also see that there is a possibility of setting up a virtual terminal option on my account - is this the only option available to me?

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

Hi there,

Our VT is not designed for face to face transaction I'm afraid so this wouldn't be an option for you. And that app you describe is not on of ours so I couldn't really give an opinion on it.

To be as secure as you possibly could we would suggest receiving the funds before the event took place.

Thanks Wayne but this is not appropriate for my particular needs. I am looking for some way of accepting payment for the sales that I make onthe night. The attendees will have already paid for the event beforehand anyway.

I am looking to capitalise on the decisions that are made as a direct result of them being at the event inspired to take action then and there. Sending them something afterwards is of little use as there are all sorts of reasons why people do not complete transactions afterwards.

Thanks for your response though - at least that this eliminates Paypal from my list of options.
