Accepting payment in a different currency

My paypal account is registered in the US, but I recently moved back to the UK temporarily. I have been sent some payments to my account in pounds, but I can't seem to accept the payments because the currency is different. I've tried pressing accept, but the payment still shows up as unaccepted. Advice?

Click on the words currency converter on the same line as your paypal balance but right hand side.

There is info there and you can change from one currency to another but there will be charges.
