help - need to reinstate my direct debit

hi, so i recently had a guy try to scam me on paypal, i quickly cancelled my paypal direct debit via my bank so that the scammer had no way of getting my money... 

 

PayPal did what they could and removed the scammer/threat but im now left with no paypal direct debit, it keeps saying i need to submit the insructions, ive submited them countless times and still no change.... 

 

any ideas?

Welcome to the community forum.

 

I'm sorry to hear that you are having difficulty setting up your direct debit again. What I recommend is removing your bank account from your PayPal account and adding it again. You will find this option in the Wallet section of your account. That will send a new direct debit agreement to your bank and will restart the connection process.

I've had this problem too. Unfortunately, the solution mentioned here only works as long as there are no payments pending. So it's not been possible for me to delete my account and then reinstall it because there have usually been payments pending. There is a payment pending now, for example, and there won't be funds in the Paypal account, because I'm not able to reinstate the direct debit link to my bank account. It's a kind of hideous circular problem!

I've been in contact with Paypal support via Twitter but that hasn't helped either. Why can't Paypal help me circumvent this problem? It should be an easy thing to do but instead this is turning my experience using Paypal into a nightmare.
