How to withdraw US dollar balance to a UK based US dollar bank account?

Hi,

Is there a way to do this? Problem is, even though the bank account is US dollar, because it's based in the UK, (as I am) paypal automatically assumes it UK pounds and hence convert to pounds when you withdraw.

Can it not just be set somewhere in the system to flag that this is a US dollar account?

I applied for this bank account specifically to handle my paypal US dollar balance, so it would be good if this could be made to work, I can't be the only person who like to do this.

Thanks

Hey there Nailzchap,

I regret that the funds will always be converted to GBP when you are withdrawing.

Is it just because people pay twice for withdrawals????????????

First we have to pay paypal foreign currency withdrawl charges and then bank will charge converting pounds to us dollar...

Paypal is EVIL!

Hmmm, I hadn't appreciated this issue when I opened my paypal account.  Looks as though it's useless to me afterall.

It's also disappointing that Paypal hasn't solved this problem, or even responded since their original response several years ago.

This isn't a "problem" at all. I spoke with a paypal supervisor at one of their contact centres and he blatantly admitted that they force you to convert your USD balance to pounds when you try to draw in into your UK USD account even though there are no pounds here in the first place and the bank account won't receive and hold the money in pounds because it's a USD account... they still force this conversion on you.... why? You guessed it! So they can charge you for it and make more money out of thin air! I would call it day light robbery. Pure greed.
