ANOTHER pending funds

So I've been moving back home after uni and decided to use ebay to sell some stuff to make space.

I'm told the quickest and easiest way to  receive payment is via PayPal. I sell my first item, arrange to transfer the funds into my bank account and then I can use this cash to post it off, since the postage charge is included.

Simple right?

WRONG!

I get an email on the 27th saying the money will be in my account by the 3rd March then today I get some accusatory email suggesting I am some kind of master fraudster and that all money will be held in a "pending account" until they can be sure I'm shipping stuff. Of course, I'm planning on using this money to ship. Unbelievable!

I've now shipped out of my own pocket because I think that even though they said it will be transferred in and the wording of the email the restriction on my account doesn't go on until today (so legally I would definitely have a case to say that they have a binding written contract with me), I'm certain that it won't go in.

Going from the large number of people in the same position on this forum, it suggests to me that PayPal maybe want to keep the cash as long as possible to gather interest.

Shameful behavior and I expected better, given that I was at no point made aware that this would happen.

I'll be requesting cheques from now on.
