Using MasterCard with paypal

I want to add a bank account on paypal so I can make payments direct from my bank account but when I go to create a bank account on paypal it asks for a sort code which my MasterCard does not have. What do I do?

Are you trying to add a debit or a credit card?

If so then you need to add your actual bank account if you want to do that.

I have a linked master card I added the bank details for that card but the number on the card is reference number. I added the account number. Will payments reach my card via account without having ref no. in bank details?

You can access bank details of master card online. Log into card account and there will be a part which says bank details - which will have all relivant sort code etc.
