I need to change my primary email address but PayPal won't let me

I need to change my primary email address but PayPal won't let me. I am shortly going to lose my email address and it will not be possible to divert the old address to a new one. I therefore need to tell PayPal my new email address otherwise I will not be able to buy or sell via PayPal. In the usual on helpful way they say that I cannot change my primary email address at all. Has anyone had any experience of successfully changing the primary email address, or does anyone have any top tips for me? Thanks in anticipation any help that I receive from the community

I'm having a similar problem.

 

My current email address is an old fsnet one and will soon no longer exist. I have added a new email address to my account but I cannot confirm it, this means I will not be able to make it the primary address and receive payments through it.

 

Every time I try and confirm the new address a big red box comes up telling me 'We're sorry. We are unable to complete your request. Please try again later'.

 

After telephone calls, emails and screenshots sent to paypal it still hasn't been resolved.

 

No one seems to know why this is happening. The new email address has never been used with paypal before.

 

If anyone has any advice on this I'd be very grateful!!

Thats why I need to change too. However these comedians at PP don't seem to make it easy - if it all.

 

Maybe need to open a new account?

It would be difficult for me to open a new paypal account as I have years of customer details on this one!

 

I might have to pay for another business email address but there's no guarantee that I would be able to confirm a new one in my paypal account. I'm not sure if it's a problem with just that email address or with my account.

 

I've emailed them again about it, I'll let you know if I find anything out.

I've just been told that I sent an invoice to the email address I'm trying to add to the account back in July 2011 and this why I cannot add it to the account now. I probably did this as a test invoice or perhaps even in error.

 

They've told me to cancel the unpaid invoice but I am only able to view invoices back to 2014.

 

I don't know whether this helps with your problem or not I'll let you know how I get on.

Thanks for that..it doesnt apply to me as I createsd this new account only last week. Hopefully you get sorted. Im still waiting an email reply.

 

The irony is that I have been upgraded as a community member owing to my recent activity! I wish they would simply make these things easy so I didnt have to enquire. Likw you the change affects me greatly yet these guys have been the worst to change things with. Im 90% there now.
