Credit Card Removed - how to reactivate?

My credit card expired at the end of September.  I've received the new one from my provider with the same card number but new expiry date.  When I follow the instructions (i.e. log-in, go to My Money, then update from there etc) to try to update it, no credit card is listed (so cannot update the details), and when I try to add it as a new card then I get an error message.

How can I change this as several sites that I use no longer let me bypass paypal just because I've got an account, yet I can't use the account.

Thanks.

Hi guys,

If your card information has expired on PayPal before you have updated a new card on your account, your card would be removed from the PayPal system once the expiry date has passed.

In order for this to be reset so that you can register your card again on PayPal, you would need to contact customer services directly and we can reset the information for you.

I hope this helps,

David.

Thanks so much for the response!

Quick question: how can I go about contacting customer services directly?

Hi there Fyrisvellir,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you on this.

To contact customer services directly, you can click the Contact Us icon at the bottom of any PayPal webpage. From here, you can then click the Call Us or Email Us links in order to get in contact with customer services directly.

I hope this helps,

David.

Ah, thanks! I couldn't send an email using the card section because it wouldn't accept the last four digits in the required field (presumably because of the problem I have, but if so, shouldn't that be changed?), so I sent my question under the accounts section.

Thanks for the help, I appreciate it!

Hopefully PayPal will add information about this kind of thing to the answers section in future.

Hi again Fyrisvellir,

Yes you make a good point. If you are experiencing difficulties with a card associated with your PayPal account, you should be able to still contact us by email without being asked for the last 4 digits of the card that you are contacting us about.

I will forward the details to the relevant teams so that we can see about having that section updated in future.

Thanks for your feedback Smiley Happy.

David.
