Changing password - 'full bank account number'

Trying to change my password and as a security check it asks for my full bank account number.

In the UK, this is an 8 digit number.

I've tried entering this.. and it says its incorrect

I've tried with the sortcode in front - incorrect

I've tried entering 2 zeros in fron (cos on Google someone said it needs to be 10 digits) - incorrect

I then stopped as I didn't want to be locked out of my account.

Anyone any idea what format it's wanting this number in ????

It's definately the right account number.. as it shows me a prompt with the bank name and last 2 digits. It just won't accept the full number.

Sounds odd, do you think they only want the first 6 numbers and have already imputted the last 2 for you???  Just a thought haven't done it for years so don't know.

I just had exactly the same problem when trying to change my email address. I logged out, logged back in and tried again and it didn't ask me for my account number that time. Why the inconsistency? No idea. 

But yeah I'm relieved it didn't ask again because no format I was entering was working and it was definitely the right number.  (I'm a UK customer too.)

I would appreciate an answer to this if anyone knows in case I get asked for the account number again someday!

Did anyone discover what "FULL bank account number" means?

I'm trying to close an old account and I'm being prompted for the information.  PayPal wants something more than just the bank account number but won't say what else it wants.  I can't find that information anywhere because I don't know what to ask for.  I don't know how to word the question so that the keywords don't bring up a tonne of stuff that doesn't pertain to my situation.

I have a Canadian bank account and don't have any idea what extra numbers I must add to the account number so that PayPal will accept it.
