Bank account and card?

Hi all I have a verified bank account set to my paypal account, do I have to add a card as well? I only have debit not credit cards so I can't see any point in adding one of these? Many thanks Dave

Hi Colinbirch25-uk,

Welcome and thank you for posting. 

There are 2 ways to change your bank card details.

1. If only the expiry date is changed.

• Go to www.paypal.com/uk and log in to your account.
• Click Profile near the top of the page.
• Click My money.
• Beside 'Debit and credit cards’, click Update.
• Next to the card you want to update, click Edit or Update Expiry Date. 
• Enter the expiry date.
• Enter your card’s security code and click Save.

2.  If the card number is changend.

• Go to www.paypal.com/uk and log in to your account.
• Click 'Profile' near the top of the page.
• Select 'My money'.
  • If you've never added a card to your account before, in the 'Debit and credit cards' section, click 'Add Card'.
  • Otherwise, in the 'Debit and credit cards' section, click 'Update', and click 'Add Card' on the next page.
• Enter the required information and click 'Link Card'.

Although it isn't mandatory, it is important that you add some type of financial to your account to fund your payments or act as a backup funding source.

This is how PayPal payments are usually charged:

1. If you're sending a PayPal payment, we'll always use any available money in your PayPal balance first to fund the payment.
2. If you don't have enough money in your balance, we'll try to take the money from your bank account.
3. If you haven't added a bank account to your PayPal account, we'll try to take the money from a linked card instead.

Can I just have my Debit Card details on my account and delete my Bank Account Details which is linked to my paypal account. not happy with all the securty problems on the web . all In i do is buy not sell.
