Address confirmation not working?

I've been using the same confirmed address for years on Paypal, and the address shows as confirmed under my profile.  Yet, for the last few months  (for example today) transaction details shows my address as unconfirmed for transactions.  The email receipts show my address as unconfirmed, so I  immediately check my address on paypal's web site and it's always shown confirmed under my profile.  Yet the transaction details show my address as unconfirmed in the transaction details whether I use my credit card or a bank transfer as payment. I tried sending a message to paypal about this months ago but got no response. It hasn't really been a problem for me because I've just avoided sellers that require confirmed address but it's still irritating to think paypal tells me my address is confirmed and tells sellers that my address is unconfirmed.  regards

Dave_Brad-  Sorry for the frustration this is causing, but there's a rational explanation.  More than likely the reason this is happening is because when you go to check out, the system is using a shipping address you entered from another website at some point in the past.  Our system will pull that address from the website when you check out and add it to your PayPal account as a 'gift' address, then retain it to make it easier if you want to use that in the future.

The problem you're running into is that when you check out, it's using one of these gift addresses.  These can never be confirmed, so your confirmed address suddenly appears as unconfirmed even though nothing's changed.  The only way to fix this would be to contact PayPal customer service so we can remove any gift addresses you have on file (since they don't appear in your Profile), but keep in mind that when you go to a website, there's the chance that it'll pull over another address and the same thing happens.  And that would include eBay as well.

Hope that works out for you.
