How do I change the name of my Paypal account

Hi My personal account set up sometime ago is called 'Wedding' because we were using it to buy things for this event. Now I want to change it but can't see this name anywhere. Help please.

Hi Ian3143,

Welcome to the community forum and thanks for posting.

You can only change the name on a PayPal account if there is a legal reason for doing this such as marriage, divorce or deed poll. If the account is not in the correct name I recommend closing it and opening a new one.

Here’s how to close your old PayPal account:

1. Log into your PayPal account at www.paypal.com
2. Click the Profile icon at the top of the page.
3. Select My account settings.
4. In the ‘Account Type’ section, click Close account and follow the instructions.

After you close your account, any transactions that are in progress are cancelled.

Here’s how to create a new PayPal account:

1. Go to www.paypal.com
2. Click Sign Up at the top of the page.
3. Select your country or region and your language.
4. Select the type of account you want to create, and then click Get Started.
5. Enter your information, and then click Agree and Create Account.

After you have confirmed your email address, you can use your new account.
