Email Address already in use, not allowing password reset

I tried to create a PayPal account a few months ago, and got the message that my email address was already in use. Tried a few of my usual passwords - no luck. So I pressed "forgot password" and got an error message: "Sorry, something went wrong on our end. Please try again." Didn't work after numerous tries.

I just tried again, and got the same error message. I had a look at PayPal's FAQs, and it wasn't there. Cleared cache and cookies. Googled it, but nobody seems to have had this same issue - even when the email address is in use, it allows a password reset email to be sent.

Phoned PayPal as a guest, gave up after being on hold for 45 minutes. (!)

Created a new email address, solely to make a PayPal account, so I could send a message. Got an automated reply suggesting I try everything I've already done.

This is my last hope! Using this email address isn't really out of the question, but I'd much rather use the one I use on a daily basis.

Thank you!

@BethM94

Afraid if you want to speak to customer servces then either patience is the key or try phoning at a quieter time.

I tend to put the phone on loud speaker and carry on with doing things until they answer.

When you get through don't select any options just hang on till you get transfered to an agent or say the word "agent".

OR

have you considered contacting Customer Service via Facebook or Twitter?

You can send them a personal message from their facebook or twitter pages.

It's: https://www.facebook.com/PayPalUK and @AskPayPal for Twitter.
