Bank charges from Paypal scam.

Hey, I'm new and i'm not sure if this is the right place to post this.

I recently fell victim to a paypal scam and they completely rinsed me, I have however gotten it sorted.
However due to the scammers lifting money out of my palpay, which took money from my bank, my bank went into an unplanned over draft and I have racked up £120 worth of bank charges.

I rang my bank (bank of Scotland) the second i got off the phone with pay pal to inform them my account had been hacked and the person I spoke to on the bank said they wouldn't cancel the charges and that it was paypal's responsiblity to cover them.  Some how to me that doesn't sound right, however, after being on the phone to this person for 45 mins of him just repeating that to me, I hung up and emailed pay pal asking them how I could go about sorting this.

I've heard nothing back from them, the charges are due off in June and I don't have a spare £120 laying about to cover them.

As it was not paypals fault your account was hacked, whilst they help you recover money processed via their site they are not responsible for your bank charges.

I would be inclined to change banks as they don't seem very sympathetic. I would phone again and see if you can get a refund of the charges or threaten to remove your account, sometimes popping into your local bank and seeing someone face to face is better.

Same had happened to me! 120 of bank charges I was absolutely livid, PayPal was taking money from my account twice then bank charged me, I went down to the bank, they saw what was going on with my account and cancelled pay-pals direct debit and said they will refund the charges but only this once. I'd do the same! I'm not risking buying anything else online anymore, it's not worth the 120 and paying for the items more than once!
