PayPal still trying to send verification code to wrong mobile number

I recently changed my mobile telephone number and removed the old mobile number from my account profile and added the new mobile number to my profile and set it as the default. Now when I try to login to PayPal via the website, it asks to send a verification code but it's still showing my old number as the default number.
I have tried logging out & back in several times and have used both Microsoft Edge & Firefox to see if that would fix it but I still get the same thing.
