Since March my account has been hacked twice. Once someone created USPS labels totaling over $270 to ship computer equipment to Romania. This time someone bought a computer from a company in Cincinnati and sent it to an address in Conyers Georgia ((I have NO idea where that is - only that the house has been in foreclosure for quite some time (according to what I found on my search)). Long story longer, I am so upset about this violation of my hard earned income
(I'm an elementary school teacher.) that I cannot stop thinking about how to stop this awful stealing.
The seller of the computer loses, too! I really hope they find the guy who did this. I gave Ebay and Paypal every bit of information I could. My family said I should call the police.
My question is: How can I change my account to send purchases to only my address that is connected to my charge card?
I pay everything in full every month on time. The extra 900 dollars that was stolen will cause a hardship.
I do not sell on Ebay. My Paypal account is not connected to Ebay. All I do is make purchases online through retailers who give Paypal as an option because it is "secure."
Phew! I wish I could have written that all in an email to Paypal that a real person would respond to.
Solved! Go to Solution.

Update: Last Post forever and ever...
After several weeks of trying (lots of weird error messages), I am finally able to close my account. I'll no longer use Ebay (where someone was able to steal my identity to create an account) or Paypal (My charge cards have worked just fine for 30 years with no incident, and most important, they always protect against fraud; no questions asked, no jumping through hoops for me.).
I was tempted to give it another chance thanks to the customer service from Mia and Travis. They are amazingly loyal to their company but also understand their customers. They should run the company! Are you listening, EBAY?

Thanks for posting your experience with PayPal. I was comtemplating creating a PayPal account to use for my online purchases -- thinking it would be more secure. Based on your experience and PayPal's less than stellar response, I will save myself the trouble!

my account was hacked just the other day, i caught it but the paypal representative was not apologetic or sympathetic in any way. when asked if they could stop it he responded no that i would have to let it go through and i would have to transfer it back to my bank. the amount was 1,500 dollars. to some that might be small change, but i was devistated.

Hi amypond,
I'm a journalist doing a story on cyber-theft, and I hope to hear more about your experience. Similar incidents happen frequently these days and there are not enough measurement--I believe your story can help so many people who fell victim of cyber-loss, and to raise awareness on this issue. I would very much appreciate if you can contact me--******
I will look forward to hearing from you!
