PayPal doesn't accept Online Banks?

I'm new to paypal, and made an account and connected my card with no problem. I bank with an online bank called AllyBank, When I tried adding my bank, it kept saying to try again later. I cleaned out my cookies, used different computers and everything I could think of, but my bank still wouldn't link. Finally I contacted paypal through facebook and told them about my problem. They said that paypal doesn't accept online banks. 

But the thing is, my friend who also uses Allybank was able to link her bank to her paypal with no problem. Why can't I? Was I lied to?

I too have been trying all day to link to my Allybank online account. That's very unfortunate for Paypal not to allow linking to it. Even more that the error message we receive implies a temporary problem.

Paypal does accept online banks.  I have used Bank of Internet in the past with no problem.  But I receive the same error when I try to link my ALLY checking acct. to paypal.  I use Ally for lots of auto payments, etc and have had no problems.  Why can't paypal fix this?
