Question about buyer returned items.

I sold a video card on Ebay.  It was working perfectly when I sent it.  Now the buyer is saying it isn't working for him and such.

So he goes to paypal and they give ghim a refund when he sends the item back to me.

Now how does paypal know they wil send back the same card?  Couldn't they switch it?

How does Paypal know they will send it back at all and not just send an empty box?

It seems to me like thew seller has no protections at all and its all about the buyer.

I put on my listing that I will take off a 20% restocking fee but paypal is refunding the full amount which means Im out the shipping and handling costs myself.

So this guy could've static shocked the board and now I have to pay for it?  That's not fair at all.  I'm so angry over this.

I have  this guys name and address and he is only an hour away from me.  Should I go over to his house and try to get my money back from him?

Can I call the police and charge him with fraud?  Can I sue him?   Do I have any recourse at all?

I think my days of selling PC and electronics on Ebay are over.

Sorry, I didn't see an edit function.

Also I think it's either Ebay is the problem or Paypal is.  If I refuse to accept paypal on PC parts or electronics would that help protect me from getting scammed like this?

Will oaypal offer refunds to any buyer no matter what the circumstances?

What is to stop a buyer from buying an expensive pc part.  Say it doesn't work, file a claim, use a tracking number but only send an empty box with rocks or books in it for the weight and keep the part.

If paypal is only using tracking numbers this is open to scamming for sure.

Yes, I think I've decided that there is nothing at all in Ebay or Paypal that protects the seller.  Everything is set up to punish the seller.  The buyers side of the story is always believed and the seller is then punished.   If this guydoesn't ship this item back to me in the same working order or if it's even a different part(as I has marked the serial number and I have marked the pcb board with an invisible marker as well) then I am going to this guys house to see about, calmly as possible, getting my money back.  See if he still wants to rip me off in person or does he only do that when he can hide on the internet.

At any rate, I'll be removing all my items from Ebay right now and using different sites to sell my items.  It's a rip off anyways.  10% on sale then they even make money on the shipping?

That's a blatant rip off.  So I have to over charge my shipping just to cover your fees, since Ebay and Paypal are the same company.  Plus holding my funds for three weeks or more when th etransaction has been completed?  You hold the money just so you can money off the interest.

So this guy gets to have my items but I cannot have the money?  No thank you, no more I'm done.   You guys rape us coming and going.

I sell over $1000 a month which I am sure is nothing but those are fees you will never see again.   I will use Ebay to buy but never to sell ever again.

I'm sure you wont answer my questions either.

Now to cancel all my auctions...I have over 100...lol.  ANyways, I'll check back to see if you have responded to me which I hope you do.

Plus cannot even leave neg or nuetral feedback to buyers?  That is not even feedback, you're forcing sellers to give only positive feedback or no feedback.

I had the issue with an electronic item. I sold it in an unopened sealed manufacturers box with no return excepted. The buyer claimed it did not work and filed with both paypal and his card issuer. Initially they both took the money back. then PP give us our money back. But then the card issuer ruled in the buyers favour and give him the money. So not only did we lose the money we lost the part as well. All based on the buyers say so that the part was faultly.

This is extremely unfair to the seller and makes a complete mockery of any protection, as well as making it pointless to list as "not returnable with no warranty".

We wanted to take it up with the card issuer but Paypal would not tell us who it was!!!! How can this be legal even?
