eBay, payments, email, spam

I am selling and item on eBay and have heard of all of the spam accounts that you mail the product and do not get paid because they sent a fake email pretending to be PayPal. The email address is paymentauctionsales and all of the PayPal links lead to a non existent page. The eBay email is my husbands yet today I received an email from “eBay” using the same address that is supposedly PayPal. Is this a scam?

Yep.

They often persuade you to do an off-Ebay transaction as they DO NOT have a paypal account so can't checkout via Ebay.

They make it look as if they have paid with FAKE paypal emails etc.

Paypal NEVER tell you to send an item BEFORE the funds are showing in your paypal balance.
