My lad was recently scammed by a phony PayPal email - as, I gather, many others have been.   There is an easy solution to this problem.   When I email PayPal I have to quote my password.   Why doesn't this security check operate in the opposite direstion ?    So that if I receive an email from PayPal and it does not quote my password, then I know it's a fake.   And why isn't this security measure already in place ?   In future I will delete any emails I receive from PayPal unless they include my password.

Why are you sending your password word to PayPal.  PayPal does NOT request password by email.

Did you verify the email to see that it was NOT from PayPal and that it was a spoof?

If you haven't done so yet, check your PayPal account on your computer, if yo can.  If all looks OK, then change your password for security purposes.

Thanks for reaching out to us here in the Community! I can appreciate your suggestion with this, however please understand that no one at PayPal even has the ability to see what your password is, and this is never information that we would provide via your email. I can understand wanting some type of confirmation that the email you're receiving is legit, and that is good feedback. But using your password for that isn't going to be a good option.
