I replaced my shocks (with performance versions) on a car and listed the old ones on ebay. I took great pictures and wrote a description stating what car they came from.

somone purchased them and then filed a complaint with Ebay a month later saying they didnt fit his car. I responded to Ebay and they said for me to close the case and that I had done nothing wrong.

so he filed the case with Paypal and had the funds held.

Ebay then sent another letter stating they noticed that the buyer filed another case with Paypal and apologized for and offered to refund all of the seller fees for "any frustration it may have caused".

great....I then get a notice from Paypal a couple days later stating that they have found in his favor. I did EVERYTHING right as a seller.

he either 1) simply didnt know what item he should be purchasing or 2) has replaced the part and is sending me his old items back

Everytime I sell a used auto part I put my signature on it...and try to mark it in a place that a buyer wont notice...and take pix

No "reason" was given by PP and Theres no way for me to respond.

Ive got another document open on my desktop to file a BBB complaint today

In the event of an item received but not as described dispute it is always one persons word against anothers.

As paypal never see the item they tend to find in favour of the buyer BUT the buyer has to return the item back to the seller first before they are refunded.

And yes 'sometimes' you may get scammed as a seller just as 'sometimes' the buyer may lose out, that is just the risk of buying and selling online.

Thats a pretty flawed system then....

Now im worried that he has used my part and returning his broken one... I did put my signature on it before shipping and took pictures just in case...but the way Paypal works, they'll just side with the buyer no questions asked.

Ill fill a BBB complaint when this has concluded. No one should have to deal with this nonsense unchecked.

thank you for the reply

Also, the item , picture and description are all the same...thats not the issue

he either purchased the wrong part or he is going to pull a switch.

His claim was simply that someone told him it wouldnt fit his car....a month after purchasing

Not really flawed, paypal offers some seller and some buyer protection but it can never be a 100% coverall.

You have to read up on it and then risk assess your transactions.

I still get caught out every now and then.

pictures and emails dont mean much, feedbacks are useless.

there are sellers who sell gold and take pictues of himself packing gold in front of USPS clerks, sealing then in front of them and take a group photo,no good.

Worse, all that fuss makes the USPS back office notice there is gold, and could be stolen during transit by USPS workers.

There are some buyers videotaping himself opening up a package of iphone and get a toy phone instead,no good either.

selling heavy items on Ebay is risky,as Ebay could ask you to pick up return shipping  and Ebay buyers do not read, they figure they can always file item not as described and make you pay return shipping.

yeah, im not mad about the money...im just upset about someone getting over on me and having PP decide in their favor, when theyre clearly in the wrong.

One good thing is that a rep from Ebay actually messaged me to apologize and refunded me the selling fees for the item.

Lets see if they return the exact item i sent to them because I signed it.
