Fraud Protection

I'm being asked to provide payment to a landlord for a property on Craigslist in another state before I get there to secure it.  Will Paypal provide Buyer protection to me if this is fraudulent and there is no apartment when I get there?  I saw the buyer protection from website sales but this will be a person to person transaction.  Thanks!

There are a lot of scams on Craig's list.

So you want to pay a deposit for a rental property which you have not seen; is that correct?

Why would you even consider a deposit for an unknown property.

Suggest you make a phone call and discuss the issue witht the landlord.

PayPal will not protect you from bad judgement for rental property.

Thank you for your response. I get the judgment but the reality is that I'm going to the other side of the country for 2 months with my child and need a place to live. People do this all the time for vacation rentals etc. I think it's reasonable so I'm unclear whether you are saying that paypal will not provide buyer protection In A private situation?
