Can any moderators answer this? Or anybody with a useful answer! @PayPal_Ashley @PayPal_Sophie @PayPal_Frank I know how the claims/ despite works but what happens to the person getting the refund back when winning the claim/ dispute? PayPal takes it out of their PayPal account which is what it says. But does it still work when the account holder deleted their account? How does paypal deal with this?

PayPal does not allow a user to delete an account when there is potential for a refund.   PayPal keeps the account open for refunds for months.  If a refund is forced, PayPal collect the debt from the seller.  For the buyer, just focus on trustworthy sellers, rather than when the buyer will close the shop.

@DPCreations, how do they collect debt from the seller? Do you know the answer to this?

PayPal will use debt collection services when needed.  But this is irrelevant to your refund.  If PayPal rules for a refund, you will get it.  PayPal will get it from the seller later.

If you are considering closing your own account to avoid paying a refund or to avoid paying a debt to PayPal, just know that PayPal will find a way to get money owed and also ding your credit score.

@DPCreations, Thanks for your answer! I'm not trying to avoid paying a refund. I just wanted to know how this would work out in my favor as I am going to be purchasing from somebody. In case it doesn't work out for me and I don't recieve anything. Thanks!

The background makes more sense.  PayPay can't protect yo for poor judgement in making a purchase, so make sure you trust the seller, you understand shipping issues and return issues from the countries involved, and all of PayPal buyer protection policies and limitations.
