Seller Protection all of the sudden says "Not Eligible" on some transactions

All of the sudden this weekend we started getting several payments where under seller protection it says "not eligible". I searched back through our history, and I don't think we've EVER had one come through that said that, even on website orders. This is happening on eBay orders though too.
My business sells a lot online through eBay, our Website (where we take Paypal) locally, as well other places. We've taken probably 4 to 5 million in payments through Paypal over the last 10 years, and have have had very little charge back and dispute problems over that time. So I can't imagine this is a performance issue.
Obviously I'm deeply concerned by it. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? I see no history out there in the forums, and searching the internet, I don't see anyone else talking about it.

I had the same issue today. I sellf about 15 phones a month and today I received 3 payments and none were elligible for seller protection. Makes me feel very insecure to sell anything like this!

Just to confirm, we had the same as well. Last time we had this was on a payment with a temporary hold (about 4 months ago) which cleared but didn't update - we rang them and then got it in writing that this was what happened and shipped the items.
This issue affected 6 items over the weekend, all through eBay and paid by PayPal, almost all were dated 26th/27th October but not every payment that day had the issue nor were they clustered (by this I mean there were about 10 payments but ones showing as 'not eligible' were scattered across this as opposed to within a timeframe). 4 were high-end mobile phones, 1 was an iPad, 1 was a bike computer - most of the buyers were verified as well with no obvious issues. I suspect it's just a display error but like you won't be shipping anything until PayPal puts down in writing that we are protected.

I did hear back from Paypal yesterday, and they said it is an error of some sort. I'm still waiting for more information though, and I'm still getting payments that say not elligible for protection through eBay.

I have noticed the last few days that most of my PayPal transactions are coming through marked "NOT ELIGIBLE". I have noticed this because over the past 13 years, I almost never see this. If you read the payapl user agreement, it clearly states that the seller will not be provided seller protection if the transaction is marked "not eligible".
I have called paypal several times over the past few days about this. First I got an operator that basically told me to go find a tall cliff and jump off it. He was rude and didn't care at all that I was having a problem. It wasn't until I got very agrivated that he even acknowledged that the problem was on PayPal's end. After he hug up on me, I called back and got the nicest lady in the world. She put me on hold and got info from a supervisor. She told me that I had to go with the "Not Eligible" for seller protection that the transaction is marked with. This basically shuts me down as far as accepting PayPal payments. I cannot accept multiple payments each day for hundreds of dollars if PayPal is not going to give me some degree of reasonable protection.
PayPal is really letting me down as a 13 plus year user. PayPal clearly has a problem with their system. You have to press them to get them to admit this. They are not offering to the public an honest statement of the problem. They are not offering long time repeat customers any resolution or help. They are basically saying if you want to use the system, you will need to forfit your seller protection. Shame on PayPal!

Again today 10/30 I have 2 transactions that show as "NOT ELIGIBLE". I had 3 that show as ok - eligible. So for the last 3 days that makes 10 transactions with 6 "NOT ELIGIBLE". I also called PayPal and got a nice lady on the phone who did acknowledge a problem.... not with my account, or with the buyer or the transactions themselves. She stated it was some sort of technical problem that they were working on. On trying to press for more information she just kept repeating herself that they were aware of the problem and were working on it. She said they did not want to make a public statement for fear of scammers trying to abuse the system if they found out there was a problem. Not much of a reassurance for sellers that they ARE BEING PROTECTED.
This is the only thread I have seen that is addressing this ongoing problem. And am wondering why more people are not on top of this. How about some help, more comments or some direction from the community.
Found a few others talking about this problem

over the weekend I sold two items and both are not eligible for seller protection. I send out an email to the buyers both ebay and paypal email addressed to verify their identity. I will not ship until I see seller protection is eligible.

Over the last day/day and half all of my payments are coming through as eligible again. So I think they've fixed the bug. I'll post back if I get any more that are not eligible.
